The sun shone last weekend as hundreds of visitors gathered to watch young people show off their talents at Dominion’s Stars in our Yard grand finale in Ealing.

Organised by Dominion’s Community Development team, the successful event  included a football tournament, dance-off, African drumming workshop, climbing wall, and fun fair.

The grand finale marked the end of the six week community project and proved a huge success with young people who were particularly keen to show off their moves in the freestyle dance competition.

Ayan Hussein, 10, who took part in the dancing competition said: “The street dancing was really good. It was fun and I would give it 100 out of ten!”

Senior Community Development Officer at Dominion Housing Group, Donna Hodsall, said:  “This was a fantastic finale to a very successful project.  Everyone really enjoyed the day and the young people have shown that they are a very talented group!”

Stars in our Yard was designed to give young people a chance to take part in activities they might not normally have access to.

Consultations held during the events have also given young people a voice – letting them explain what life is like for them and what they need to improve it.

“This will be used to help us engage with young people more effectively in the future, creating opportunities and breaking down barriers to services,” Donna said.
